This has been an exciting year for The Arc of Gaston County, and for me personally, as I began the Executive Director role this April. I have many new challenges and exciting ideas for this organization, and look forward to partnering with our entire community to raise the voice of The Arc.
My experience with our special needs population stems primarily as a parent. My oldest son was born with Down Syndrome in 2001; and since his birth, I have been involved in every aspect of his case management, therapies, and other Mental Health services. So, I understand the importance of these services and how they can enhance our special citizen’s personal growth. I have also volunteered with the Special Olympics Gaston County committee since 2002, served as a parent advocate on local and regional Early Intervention committees, and enjoy participating in the Annual Down Syndrome Association of Charlotte (DSAC) Buddy Walk which raises money for research and awareness for people with Down Syndrome.
Please feel free to contact me with your ideas and suggestions for this organization. Together we can help to make Gaston County a barrier-free community of growth and opportunity for all of our mentally challenged citizens.

Not because of what you do or what you have done,
